What is OSHA 10-hour training?

OSHA 10-hour training is an orientation and training program designed to improve workplace safety and risk prevention.

It is designed for entry-level workers in construction and general industry. 10-hour training teaches basic safety and health information and also covers workplace hazards, workers’ rights, employer responsibilities and how to file an OSHA complaint.

Should I get my OSHA 10-hour certification?

Some employers require workers to earn an OSHA 10 card before starting work. This training is also mandatory in some states, cities and local jurisdictions.

It’s valuable, even in situations where it’s not required: certification can help your organization become more compliant, avoid costly fines and penalties, and provide an overall safer workplace.

What is the purpose of OSHA 10-hour certification?

As demand for skilled workers increases across a variety of industries, the need for safe work sites becomes even more important.

OSHA 10-hour general industry training is appropriate for those working in an industry other than construction, which has its own specialty 10-hour course (see below). It’s designed for workers in healthcare, factory operations, warehousing, manufacturing, storage and more.

OSHA 10-hour construction training is appropriate for workers who perform new construction, demolition, building development, alterations or repairs.

The OSHA 30-hour safety course is appropriate for supervisors and workers with safety and health responsibilities. It provides a greater variety of safety subjects and in-depth, industry-specific education. There is also an OSHA 30-hour course specific to construction.

What should I expect from 10-hour training?

Gregory & Appel Insurance is hosting a two-day OSHA 10-hour general industry training October 23, 2024 from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm and October 24, 2024 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. The cost is $350 per person for current G&A clients, and $625 per person for non-clients.

Upon completion of the course, participants will receive an OSHA 10 card, which certifies to employers that you’ve completed 10 hours of OSHA-authorized training on workplace safety topics.

Whether it’s required by your workplace, your local jurisdiction, or you are just hoping to improve your safety and risk prevention skills, this is a great way to earn your certification.
