INDIANAPOLIS – Safety Resources, Inc., a national safety consulting firm that practices the implementation and execution of workplace safety, awarded Gregory & Appel Insurance (G&A) the Outstanding Safety Management Support Award for 2021 for its work on the Bankers Life (now Gainbridge) Fieldhouse construction.
This award highlights companies that have demonstrated exceptional efforts in the safety and health field. There were several nominations for this honor among various industries and the team at G&A won with a unanimous vote.
G&A collaborated with Capital Improvement Board of Marion County and Bankers Life to establish a safety committee, incentive programs and safety stand-downs in an effort to improve the project’s already robust safety program as well as celebrate the crews’ dedication to safety.
“Our team was in the trenches on this project,” explains Kim Elsey, Risk Consultant at G&A. “We were at the construction site on a monthly basis – steel-toed boots laced up and hard hats on – examining the entire site and making sure the necessary procedures were being followed.”
Elsey adds, “Bryan King, the Safety Director from Shiel Sexton, and Kevin Donohue, Safety Consultant from Safety Resources, were instrumental in our risk control efforts, which resulted in exceedingly low employee injuries for a project of this magnitude. I’m extremely grateful for our partnerships with Shiel Sexton and Safety Resources.”
This isn’t the first award to come from the Bankers Life Fieldhouse construction. Shiel Sexton and the Capital Improvement Board of Marion County also won the Coalition for Construction Safety’s 2021 Outstanding Project Safety Award for their commitment to safety during Phase 1 of the project.
