Gregory & Appel Promotes Anthony Crain to Chief Financial Officer

Anthony Crain, new CFO

April 19, 2021 – INDIANAPOLIS – Gregory & Appel Insurance (G&A) announced today the promotion of Anthony Crain as its Chief Financial Officer. As CFO, Crain will oversee the financial success and growth of the company to maintain independent ownership.

The promotion follows the retirement of David Riley after a more than 28-year run as CFO for G&A. Riley was a catalyst of modernizing G&A’s operations, and a key architect of creating the stable financial foundation the company enjoys today.

“It gives me great confidence to know the level of corporate and operational finance expertise Anthony brings to the table in addition to his leadership capabilities for our continued success and sustainable growth,” said Andrew Appel, president & CEO. “Continually growing our fiscal strength is what will allow us to remain fiercely independent for our clients, colleagues and community.”

Crain joined Gregory Appel in 2003 as accounting manager until 2010 when he relocated to Atlanta, GA and later to San Diego, CA for a career in finance that would span across various industries including professional services, distribution and exporting services. After a nearly 8-year career of progressive finance experience, he returned to Gregory & Appel as controller in 2018.

“His thoughtful approach to exploring new opportunities will only add to our collaborative company culture,” said Christina Kelley, COO. “I am excited to welcome Anthony to our executive leadership team.”

During Crain’s time as controller at G&A, he has managed the organization’s accounting department and has been responsible for all corporate accounting functions. His tenure has also included the digital transformation of the organization’s finance management system to Salesforce.

Crain added, “When I rejoined Gregory & Appel, I was excited to see the continued growth the organization had experienced, all while preserving the innovative and collaborative culture. Now, I am excited to help continue leading G&A into a strong future.”
