Katherine serves as a Senior Consultant in the Employee Benefits division of Gregory & Appel. She has more than 20 years of experience in employee benefits consulting, both on the employer and consulting sides of the industry.
As Manager of Benefits and Workers Compensation for the City of Indianapolis and Marion County, Katherine was responsible to manage and oversee the implementation of an expansive total rewards benefits portfolio for over 6,000 employees spanning five separate union groups.
As a Consultant, Katherine specialized in advising employers on varying self-funded and alternate funding arrangements, corporate private exchanges, population health and data analytics, PeopleSoft HRIS, worksite voluntary benefits, and employee engagement strategies. She led her clients in a variety of total reward strategies in the creation, implementation, and evaluation of effective employee benefit portfolios and their impact for her clients’ top line growth. Her industry specialties include Manufacturing, Higher Education, Finance/Banking, PEO’s, Agriculture, Professional Services, and Commercial Real Estate, with employers ranging in size from 100 – 10,000+ FTE’s.
Katherine spent nearly nine years with Aon Hewitt as Account Executive and Assistant Vice President, providing strategic short and long-term planning, program evaluation, funding and design analysis, renewal and plan negotiations, vendor management, benefits administration, and the development of wellness/health promotion programs. She was awarded the top national Client Innovation Mid-Market award from Aon Hewitt. Katherine later served as Relationship Manager for Mercer Health & Benefits, LLC, where she worked extensively with employers; advising them on innovative engagement and cost-efficient programs that benefitted both their human capital needs and the bottom line.
Katherine earned a bachelor’s degree with honors from IUPUI. She is a licensed agent for life and health insurance in numerous states and is a member of National Association of Health Underwriters Association. She has actively served on the Board of Directors for Total Rewards of IN (formerly CBPI), has served on Indy SHRM, Northeast Indiana HR Association, and Michiana Chapter SHRM, and is a speaker at professional association meetings and conferences throughout the state.
