INDIANAPOLIS – Gregory & Appel Insurance (G&A) announced the hire of Heather Kennedy as chief operating officer.  As a member of the executive team, Kennedy will lead strategic priorities for the company’s service operations.

Her responsibilities will include overseeing day-to-day operations, improving processes to support client experience, enhancing staff professional development and advancing the company’s IT infrastructure initiatives.

“Heather brings a passion for helping teams with personal and professional development goals as well as setting a clear vision and executing the plan,” says Andrew Appel, President & CEO at G&A. “I look forward to the positive impact her leadership will bring to both our service operations and company culture.”

Kennedy is joining the company from the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), where she served on the executive team as chief legal counsel for the past three years. Her experience at INDOT spanned several leadership roles managing teams of 20-650 employees, varying from engineers to project managers and attorneys to field staff.

An attorney by training, Kennedy received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Indianapolis and her Juris Doctor degree from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.  Her prior roles include working in the public sector for the Indiana Attorney General’s Office.

“I am so excited to be on the Gregory & Appel team! G&A’s engagement with their community, clients and colleagues really inspired me, and I truly wanted to work in a family-feel environment,” says Kennedy. “I am hopeful that I can quickly build lasting personal and professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders while bringing quick wins in process improvements and efficiencies.”
