The National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) named TechAssure their exclusive insurance partner for NVCA members. We then created VentureInsure, a suite of comprehensive insurance coverages and risk management services designed to protect venture capitalists and their investments. TechAssure has also partnered with an A.M. Best Co. “A” rated carrier to introduce the first office package policy specifically designed for venture capital firms. Our initial results have seen cost savings of more than 20%.

Client Anecdote: TechAssure members work closely with major insurance companies to customize policy forms to cover your risks, and evolve the underwriting process to better serve your needs. As a result, we have launched a series of new insurance coverage’s exclusive to TechAssure agents. For example, our Customized package (Property & General Liability) policy for Venture Capital (VC) firms, has recently saved some of our clients enough on their premiums to cover their entire cost of membership in the National Venture Capital Association.

Steve is a fourth-generation Appel to join Gregory & Appel Insurance. Besides his work in areas of Corporate Development, he focuses on the areas of Venture Capital, Life Sciences, and Technology. He is a board member of TechAssure, an organization of insurance professionals who focus on serving emerging technology companies and the VC firms that back them. TechAssure is also the exclusive insurance partner for the National Venture Capital Association.
Prior to joining Gregory & Appel, Steve worked in Southern California for a government & public relations firm. He had also worked for a Santa Monica, CA-based middle market investment bank. Previous to that he also served in Washington, DC as the Legislative Director and Press Secretary for U.S. Congressman Frank Riggs, (CA-01). He graduated from Rollins College and has an MS in Marketing Communications from Northwestern University.
Steve participated in the Stanley K. Lacy Leadership program, is President-elect of the board of directors of ACG-Indiana, and a member of the board of directors for the International School of Indiana and of Happy Hollow Camp.

Debbie has worked at Gregory & Appel since 1998 and has over 35 years of experience in the insurance industry. She specializes in commercial risks including non-profits, arts and cultural entities, religious institutions, condominiums and ski resorts. Her insurance certifications include CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter), CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor), CRM (Certified Risk Manager), AINS (Associate in General Insurance.) She is Past President of the Central Indiana Chapter Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters, has served on the CPCU Society Annual Meetings Task Force, and currently serves on the CPCU Society Agent & Brokers Interest Group Committee. Debbie is a member of the Midwest Ski Areas Association (MSAA), and the Community Associations Institute (CAI.) Debbie enjoys being a student of the insurance industry, as well as supporting various arts and cultural organizations.
