At Gregory & Appel, our full-time ski resort insurance team has more than 40 years of experience. Our services professionals not only provide basic Ski Area coverages but also offer custom plans for workers compensation, employee benefits, and directors & officers liability.

Since 1989, we have been a member of NSAA and MSAA. We have been the exclusive Midwest brokers for MountainGuard, the benchmark of ski area insurance, for more than 40 years.

Client Anecdote: Our client owned a start-up business in the recreation services industry. He had little knowledge of the insurance risks involved. We worked with our client to assess his insurance needs, explain exposures and coverages, discuss options, and design a plan. We introduced him to a group for others in his industry and were with him through two lawsuits. Today, we continue to enjoy a close business relationship adjusting their insurance as the business grows.

Deborah L. Botts
Debbie has worked at Gregory & Appel since 1998 and has over 35 years of experience in the insurance industry. She specializes in commercial risks including non-profits, arts and cultural entities, religious institutions, condominiums and ski resorts. Her insurance certifications include CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter), CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor), CRM (Certified Risk Manager), AINS (Associate in General Insurance.) She is Past President of the Central Indiana Chapter Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters, has served on the CPCU Society Annual Meetings Task Force, and currently serves on the CPCU Society Agent & Brokers Interest Group Committee. Debbie is a member of the Midwest Ski Areas Association (MSAA), and the Community Associations Institute (CAI.) Debbie enjoys being a student of the insurance industry, as well as supporting various arts and cultural organizations.

Scott Gray
Scott Gray is a Vice President and serves as a Commercial Lines Producer for Gregory & Appel. Scott has worked in commercial lines property & casualty insurance since 1979. His area of expertise is in the more complex level of risk transfer arrangements. He has a very balanced list of clients both in state and out of state, from very specialized contractors to our very best non for profit entities here in Indianapolis. Scott also has an expertise in the aviation industry, manufacturing as well as the United States Skiing industry, being only one of a few brokers that provide those resorts with their insurance.    

Scott worked for Commercial Union Insurance Company his first 10 years out of college (University of Evansville) where he served as a claims adjuster, regional claims supervisor and marketing territorial manager for Commercial Union. 

Scott was an original founder and board member of the Indianapolis Air Show, a benefit fund raiser for Riley Children\'s Hospital. Scott is a 28 year member of the National Ski Area\'s association and the Midwest Ski Area\'s Association where he serves on the Board of Directors of that organization.

Scott is an exclusive representative of the MountainGuard™ insurance program with an extensive background in resort risk management.
