File a Claim

As part of our claims advocacy services, each client is assigned a representative who serves as a liaison with the insurance company adjuster. Our professional claims staff routinely meets with adjusters and clients to assist with open claims, analyze claim trends, and resolve outstanding claim issues.

Auto Accident
If you have been in an accident:

1. Stop at once.
2. Seek Medical Attention for anyone who is hurt.
3. Call the police.
4. DO NOT ADMIT FAULT.
5. Discuss the specifics of the accident only with the police and your insurance agency.
6. Exchange information with the other people in the accident; obtain names, addresses, insurance policy number, insurance company and PHONE NUMBERS.
7. If witnesses stop, obtain their names and phone numbers.
8. Contact the Gregory & Appel Claims Department at 317-634-7491 or 800-968-7491 during business hours.

Property Damage - Homeowners
If there has been an incident at your home:

1. Secure the premises to prevent further damage. You may need to call a general contractor to assist you.
2. Call the Gregory & Appel claim office at 317-634-7491 or 800-968-7491. Be ready to describe the cause of the property damage, the address of the damaged property, and the date the claim occurred.
3. If the damage is significant enough to displace you from your home or if it occurs outside of normal business hours, please call our office (317-634-7491 or 800-968-7491) and follow the prompts to leave an emergency message. A claim professional will call you back soon to assist with your emergency.

Property Damage – Commercial Property
If there has been an incident at your business:

Employee Injury
If any employee has been injured at work:

1. Require the employee to complete an employee injury report describing the date of the injury, the accident, the body parts injured, and the location of the accident.
2. Complete a first report of injury form. Send it promptly to the workers compensation insurance claim office identified in your Gregory & Appel claims kit (sent to your business following your last renewal); or
3. Phone, fax or report your claim on-line directly to the worker’s compensation insurance company. Specific reporting instructions were provided in your Gregory & Appel Claim Kit mailed to your business.
4. Forward all medical bills to the insurance company’s adjuster once assigned. If you wish, you may turn in any initial bills with the first report of injury.
5. Investigate the accident to identify and implement corrective action strategies to prevent a similar type of accident in the future.
   

Liability Claims and Lawsuits
If you receive a letter, summons or claim notice from a third party alleging that you damaged or harmed them in any way:

1. Send the document(s) to Gregory & Appel immediately.
2. If the document is a summons from the court, you have a limited number of days to make a court appearance. If we receive the documents in a timely fashion, the insurance company will appear in court on your behalf for covered loss.
3. If a visitor is injured at your property, note the time of the event, date, visitor name, and description of the accident and injuries. Take photos of the accident scene, if possible, and contact Gregory & Appel to report the potential claim.
